Wake me up when September ends

Blood Moons of 2014 and 2015Some years ago a song by Green Day was popular – “Wake me up when September ends”. It was a somber song.

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my father’s come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Autumn has officially started and September is drawing to a close, but there has been a lot of talk about “the End of September” and something big looming.

Yom Kippur is the Jewish Day of Atonement and is ten days after Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.

In ancient Israel, the calendar was based around the cycles of the moon – more specifically, around witnessed observations of the cycles of the moon. The new moon must be witnessed by two people. Rosh Hashana, the New Year, was supposed to begin at sunset on September 12, but at the time, Israel was being slammed by the worst sand storm the country has ever seen – it lasted six days.

Those who still rely on moon sightings claim that, according to scripture, Rosh Hashanah was delayed by two days. Since Yom Kippur starts 10 days after Rosh Hashana, it too would be delayed by two days – sunset on Thursday, September 24, which is 6:34 PM (GMT+3).

Although the practice of witnessed observation of the moon isn’t practiced in modern Israel, many more traditional Jewish people still use this method to determine the timing of their holy days.

The End of September

Yesterday (September 23rd) we talked about the “coincidences” surrounding the number 266 and what all that means (or could mean).

Today, September 24th, the Pope addressed a joint session of Congress – for the first time in history.

Tomorrow morning, September 25th, the Pope is scheduled to make an appearance at United Nations General-Assembly.

September 25th marks the end of the “500 days to avoid climate chaos” that French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius spoke of on May 13, 2014, when he and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry delivered remarks at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Since the Pope an POTUS talked about climate change. what might be said at the United Nations tomorrow?

Pope Francis:

“Mr. President, I find it encouraging that you are proposing an initiative for reducing air pollution. Accepting the urgency, it seems clear to me also that climate change is a problem which can no longer be left to a future generation. When it comes to the care of our ‘common home,’ we are living at a critical moment of history.”

President Obama:

“Holy Father, you remind us that we have a sacred obligation to protect our planet — God’s magnificent gift to us. We support your call to all world leaders to support the communities most vulnerable to a changing climate and to come together to preserve our precious world for future generations.”

September 25th to September 27th is when The United Nations is going to launch their new “sustainable development” plan called “The 2030 Agenda”.

September 25th is when Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, ends (if the delay mentioned above is be observed).

September 28th is when Sukkot, the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles, begins.

September 28th is the last of the four “blood moons” – it will be a “supermoon” that will be clearly visible from the city of Jerusalem. A similar pattern of eclipses happened just before and just after the destruction of the Jewish temple by the Romans in 70 AD.

What does all that mean?

I don’t have any idea. I’m just putting pieces of a big puzzle together.

If I were to speculate at what the picture all those puzzle pieces make, here’s what I’d infer (and I could be completely wrong).

What did Pope Francis talk about in his address? Perhaps what’s more telling is what he didn’t address, namely abortion and same-sex marriage. That’s right, even though the Supreme Court recently came out with a ruling on same-sex marriage, the Pope didn’t even mention it (supporting it or condemning it).

Now, many Republicans want to:

  • defund Planned Parenthood (the number one leader in abortion services in the States),
  • prohibit abortions past 20 weeks (when fetuses are capable of feeling pain), and
  • require medical aid be provided to babies who survive a failed abortion.

And they’re attaching (or trying to attach) these as conditions on the Continuing Resolution to keep the government open for business (and prevent another government shutdown). The Pope didn’t mention anything about abortion, either. Odd given the proximity and timing.

Instead, the Pope talked about helping the poor, addressing the plight of immigrants, abolishing the death penalty, taking a stand against guns (despite being surrounded by armed guards), and climate change. That’s right, banning guns and protecting the environment were more important to the Pope than homosexuality and abortion. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions there.

Now, put that in line:

  1. The Pope and POTUS talked about climate change in their addresses on 9/24
  2. The Pope is speaking to the United Nations, presumably about climate change on 9/25
  3. The last day of the 500 days to prevent “climate chaos” is 9/25
  4. From 9/25 to 9/27 the United Nations is launching their new “sustainable development” plan called “The 2030 Agenda”
  5. 9/28 starts the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles
  6. 9/28 is the last of the four “blood moons” in this cycle – and it’s going to be a “supermoon”

What do you think? Coincidences?
